Do it yourself tool from ATF can be a great start
Maps are a basic and essential tool for anyone who owns or cares for a parcel of woodland. A good map starts with the property boundaries (see Knowing Your Boundaries) and then adds important features like woods roads, trails, water features, and forest type boundaries.

If you’re looking to create a map yourself, the American Tree Farm System has an interactive mapping tool you can try at MyLandPlan.org.  Once you create an account you can access lots of other useful information there as well.

If you’d like professional assistance in developing a good map for forest management, you can contact the Connecticut DEEP Division of Forestry Service Forester for assistance.
